Chimpanzees have been greatly misunderstood and maligned in the press as some type of monsters that want to “rip your face off” This is just fake news that has been propagated by storytellers to raise ratings and create drama. There have been a few incidents with chimpanzees where they have harmed people but the people were untrained and in situations with chimpanzees that they did NOT understand. The chimps were NOT living the best , no one was fulfilling the needs of the chimpanzees. Now, If a chimpanzee has been raised by a knowledgeable team of professional in the proper care and management of apes. Then as a team you can safely have a lifelong relationship with chimps. But this takes a lifetime of understanding and experience. They also have an island covered in thick trees and bamboo that they can run free on.
