Every vet has said that it's very normal for wobbly kittens to be delayed at using a litter box. There isn't a formal study on it, but my guess is that it's not that they don't want to use it, it just harder and so it takes a while for them to figure it out. Baby Corn was no exception. He was pee pad trained to start so he wouldn't go just anywhere on the floor. He would yell when he had to go and I would try to put him in a litter box, but he would always stumble out and use the pee pad instead. I tried several different types of boxes and litter textures for him and he avoided all of them. Eventually this craft tray ended up being a winner. It's just the right height for him to be able to get inside and to levitate and fall out without hurting himself. Since getting these, he's been really good about using just these trays. If I try to put one down somewhere else, he doesn't automatically know it's for him, but he will yell when he wants to go to the bathroom so it's up to us to hear it and place him inside. For anyone else with a wobbly cat - did it take a while for them to learn how to use a litter box? Any tips you can share for other future wobbly cat parents?
