There are different kinds of milkweed. Please plant the one native to your region. Some regions have multiple native versions of milkweed. Milkweed can be aggressive/spread, so don’t plant it in your prized raised bed. We can’t completely annihilate a plant and expect there are zero consequences. The monarch butterfly is the collateral damage here. This butterfly will not go extinct on my watch! That is for certain!!

Anyone out there trying to start a small farm or community or homestead: this will help you! And the electric company will NOT tell you this number unless you ASK!! Raw land will be cheaper than developed land - you can have the electricity brought in still.

I’m all for innovation over here. But not at the expense of American farmland. Put the ugly things on top of commercial buildings and parking areas instead. Taking out what farmland we have left it’s insane and one of the dumbest things we could be doing as a species.

I gave out probably hundreds of these last year from the farm stand. Always free!! It makes me happy to think my farm is getting these guys business. They made sure to get a box onto the truck bound for my property today. Love how much they work together and collaborate. Oooopsies! I’ve learned so much so quickly that I hope it helps others behind me. I’m doing it solo. No one in my family has developed raw land. Trial by fire - and I’ve learned a lot! Here’s what to know when having a driveway put on your raw land.

If I bought land all over again, these are the first steps I’d take IN THIS ORDER! I did not follow this order and got extremely lucky with things like my survey!! This will ensure you aren’t buying land with bad bounds, water, soil, hidden burial grounds, etc. Sadly people will do anything for a sale today… even if it’s selling bad land. This will ensure that doesn’t happen to you.

Destroy the host plant, destroy the butterfly. That’s what we’ve done to the monarch butterfly. Milkweed is the only plant they will lay eggs on/the monarch caterpillar will feed off. There are many types of milkweed so plant the one native to your region! Just one stem of this could mean the difference for the eastern monarch.

There’s something to be learned here! This is how I function with my mom, sister, and best friend. We share resources and info. It’s not me v them. We all win together. Individualism has its moments, too, but these guys are going to get ahead in life sharing some of the resources along the way.

There is never a ‘good’ time to buy land. I know it’s expensive. But it’s for sale and we need good people to buy it before corporations do. I try to cover different ways to do this with low funds on here. I write about it on substack as well. Once this land is gone, there’ll be no getting it back. All you need is an acre to be self sufficient!!

Here’s what to do if you’re about to buy land. There’s no one right way to do any of this, but it did indeed all work out for me in the end. Don’t be scared to buy raw land - these steps should help! We need more everyday Americans to buy this land stat.

First farm stand mishap has occurred. Yes I have a camera. Yes we have footage of it. Still, it stinks to have one of your barrels plowed to smitherenes, and my lupine I worked hard to grow. Leave a note man! Jeez

We sell potters, pollinator baths and bug hotels, original artwork, cards, prints, coasters, farm fresh eggs, and more. We also give out Amish directories and native seeds for FREE! I learn a lot about people around me and consumer preferences by monitoring the stand. It makes me happy seeing it bring locals together. It makes me even happier watching people take seeds to try and save the butterflies and bees with me. It will take a village. Small action counts! Welcome to my pollinator farm. The walking path is so that people can see, in person, what a native plant landscape looks like, as well as the pollinators I’m going to be welcoming to this farm! The only way to make people care is to show it to them firsthand. Pollinators are dying in record, catastrophic numbers right now. Day 1 of 3 getting this baby ready for some farming and other outdoor events this summer. The time is almost here! I needed a walking path, additional parking, spot for a potting shed, and fencing to make it happen. Who better to call than the company that made this all happen. Sooo many poultry books say chickens love enrichment and disco balls, go figure! The refracting light during the day entertains them. Chickens need more enrichment than people realize! Since it’s new to them, they’re a little hesitant, but will get used to it in just a day! Updates coming on them hanging at Club Chicken

I had no clue what this critter was for a hot minute. Was she a moth? A bird? A bee? Turns out she can pollinate deep within long tubed flowers, making her a welcome sight at any farm. Looks like no pesticides and lots of perennial plants here are starting to bring back nature ♥️

They will be returning when the ground dries to fill in the holes etc! We usually have wet springs here in upstate NY, and this year is no different. People want to shop local! I’ve been blown away by the local support. Our country was technically founded by farmers and entrepreneurs. I’d say this is how we were always supposed to shop, trade, eat, etc. and some of the $ doesn’t hurt! #homestead #farmlife #farmtok #barndominiumlife
