Showed up to Madeira completely solo, kinda sad l.. and immediately got adopted by a group of local boys at the surf rental shop who made me feel so safe, loved, and at home. This is one of the most underrated hikes that I’ve heard no one talk about on the island. There were almost no people when I went! Be warned, you have to walk through multiple tunnels, some as long as 2 km. You need a good flashlight, and it could be scary if you go alone! But this is one of the most beautiful hikes.
