My go to gross space fact: astronauts shed the calluses on the bottom of their feet after a few months in space! 🧑🚀 One day when they pull off their sock, there it goes. These tough skin on the bottom of our feet is no accident! It forms because our feet are constantly pushing against the floor as we walk in Earth’s gravity. But in space, our feet don’t need this tough skin any more. In fact, the tops of astronaut feet often develop tougher skin because astronauts are often booking their feet around different bars and straps to keep themselves in place. Just one of the many ways our bodies adapt to space! Even if it might be a little gross. #space #astronaut #grossfacts #science #sciencefacts
Happy 30th anniversary to Computer Aided Design software, SolidWorks! I’ll wear my prize socks with pride. SolidWorks is the primary design tool I learned while getting my mechanical engineering degree, and I still use it for some of my modeling. I’m grateful I grew up in the era were these type of engineering tools are commonplace! #3dexperienceworld #engineering #engineer #cad #solidworks #engineeringchallenge
