READ THIS FOR CONTEXT: Whilst sailing across the Pacific, we pulled into a remote island to escape a storm. We found three French sailors, that had been stranded in the island for weeks. Although a small community lived there, there was no airport or ferry, and the supply ship hadn’t been for weeks. We were their only way off the island, and obvs we weren’t going to leave them there. So, we went from 2 to 5 crew for the next 200 mile passage to Tonga. The sailing lifestyle is punctuated by incredible highs and terrifying lows. This journey has taken me to some dark places, but it’s also lead me to moments of pure euphoria, which always makes the struggle worthwhile. I’m addicted to the experience of travelling on a sailing boat, and I don’t ever plan to stop. #dadlore #sailingaroundtheworld #fyp #foryou
Sailing across the ‘Dangerous middle’ between French Polynesia and Samoa. This was one of the rougher parts of our Pacific crossing as we had a lot of rain, and at times, a lot of wind too. We pulled into a very remote atoll for a few days rest, and overall we sailed over 1,000 miles in about 9 days. #sailaroundtheworld #pacificocean #oceanwaves #sailing #ocean #southpacific #boatlife #fyp #foryou
A rough start to the day in the middle of the Pacific. These line squalls are common throughout the Pacific, and they are basically like mini-storms that bring a lot of wind and rain, and often big waves too. Thankfully we made it through this one safely, but we had many more to sail through before we could make a safe landfall in New Zealand x #sailaroundtheworld #pacificocean #oceanwaves #sailing #bigwaves #ocean #southpacific #storm #fyp #foryou
Replying to @YeetosTheChild After pulling into this remote island to escape a storm, we discovered these three French castaways with a crazy story. Although a small community lived on the island, there was no way for them to leave, and we had to decide whether we would rescue them (obviously we did), and sail 200 miles to the next group of islands. Not what you want to see at nightime in the middle of the Pacific ocean. We were sailing between French Polynesia and the Cook Islands, and still 300 miles away from land. The wind had been gradually building throughout the night, and at some point I would have to bring the sail in. Unfortunately, I never managed too, as the spinnaker blew out, and there was no way we could repair it, as half of the sail was missing:( #sailaroundtheworld #pacificocean #sailing #adventure #ocean #tiktoktravel #boatlife #fyp #foryou
A two-day sail from Samoa, to a very small and remote Tongan island. This was the fourth Pacific nation we visited on the crossing, and this island was very special, as we were the only sailing boat there! The nearest island was well over 100 miles away. Shortly after we arrived, a big storm rolled through, and it looked like we would be stuck there for a while. We found castaways on a remote desert island in the Pacific! Should we take them with us? @Maddie Chapman #sailaroundtheworld #southpacific #sailing #castaways #travel #remote #fyp #foryou
