I'm debunking more investing myths, and clearing up all the bad advice out there that is keeping you from investing and getting rich. Because I love fighting the patriarchy and making you rich. 🤑
last summer, I lost 50,000 followers in less than 24 hours. For posting a photo of myself in a swimsuit on vacation. Some of the responses I received from women in the comments: "this is unprofessional, unfollowing" "this isn't your brand wtf" "I just came for financial advice, I don't want to see your fat body." Let's break down what's really happening here... A woman standing in her power and liking herself makes people uncomfortable. A person is multi-faceted and more than just their "niche." You also don't get to tell a business owner what their brand "is" or "should be." A woman (who happens to be curvy) faces a double-standard when posting photos -- a photo of a skinny woman in a bikini is a vacation photo, a photo of a curvy woman in a bikini is sexually explicit, inappropriate, and "asking for it." "Unprofessional" is a word meant to say "sit down and conform." None of these comments would have happened if I was stick-thin, or a man (you can just see a finance bro posting his shirtless gym selfie to absolute cheers in the comments.) The bummer about all of this? It shows just how necessary my work is -- how far we have to go to impact internalized misogyny and make way for a world where women can be multi-dimensional, confident, and kind. And I'm more fired up than ever to lead the charge.
