Last year was my first year joining Artfight. Some friend of mine recommended it to me, and I said why not give it a try ! I created my account on the 26 of june, few days before the event start. I was able to scrape up some old drawings of my oc’s and put up ref sheets of them. I was very excited to participate in this, even bookmarked so many characters. I received my first attack on the 14th. During those 14 days, I couldn’t help but wonder If I was good enough, if I was worthy of receiving anything, if my characters were interesting enough, cool enough, If I was enough. It all felt so empty. And yes, I did share my user on thousands of Tiktok videos, post my art on the official discord server, shared it to my friends hoping to get something. Even ended up signing up on forms hoping to get my oc’s enrolled maybe in a mass attack ? Only to find them drawn wrongly according to the descriptions I have made. And I’m not mentioning all the ones who promised to revenge but never did. Of course Artfight has so many good points and is overall a good experiment, but I feel like the struggle beginner artists go through is not talked about enough.
